Description

Course Description

English is the global language for international business and trade.  Widely used in doing official business proceedings, it facilitates communications and negotiations among organisations across the world. Having a sound working knowledge of English for business is therefore considered an asset for those seeking to embark on a career in the corporate world.

The unit gives importance to the typical written and verbal communication practices in a business context. The aim of this unit is for learners to practice communication in English in both written and spoken contexts. Business writing includes routine business communication (e.g. e-mails, letters), short internal company reports, and reformulation of business texts. The unit also focuses on language use for presentation skills.

This unit will provide learners with the fundamentals of communication in the English language, and offer the opportunity to further develop, refine and expand application of language skills in English for business environments. The range of skills learned will give students the confidence required in dealing with such communications in the work environment.
