Course Description

This unit will provide a thorough understanding of the knowledge and theories of problem solving and decision making, and equip the learner with the required skills to be able to solve problems and make decisions to execute the project deliverables.

The learner will grasp an understanding of the traits required for project leadership, the different styles of leadership, and demonstrate the ability to apply leadership at the appropriate moment. The learner will be able to distinguish between leadership and management.

Effective leadership may be accomplished with emotional competence, and the learner will be able to enhance his/her emotional intelligence as a requisite for being an effective project manager.

The learner will gain insights and skills to be able to apply team building techniques and build the appropriate project management team for a given project.

This unit is based on the practical soft skills that are required by a project manager to undertake his managerial role with success. To this end, the learner is provided with the underpinning theory associated with motivation, delegation, the power to influence and the ability to resolve conflict as a means to enhance the project outcomes.

Ultimately, the learner will be provided with the necessary skills to be able to identify project risks, develop risk mitigation strategies and implement risk responses to maintain the time-cost-quality rule in order.
