Course Description
Spanish is one of the most widely used languages among entrepreneurs, professionals, students and workers. Understanding Spanish today is of vital importance. Spanish, also called Castillian language, is recognised as an official language in 21 countries which include Spain, 19 countries in Central and South America (except for Brazil where the people speak Portuguese) and in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea in Africa. It is the fourth most spoken language in the world, with over 480 million people worldwide. Spanish is spoken in 73 countries and it is one of the most important languages in the world because it is a language with a rich culture and literature.
The unit is intended to provide learners with the fundamental skills to develop communicative skills and language proficiency required for further study of the language. Throughout the unit the learner will consolidate the four skills required to learn a language, namely, reading, writing, speaking and listening. The topics of this unit will focus at developing the learner’s communicative skills used in everyday life, including descriptions about people, places, actions and daily routine. The‚ learner will eventually acquire and develop skills to engage in short conversations, exchange information and interact with others in a meaningful way.‚ The learner will be able to listen to and‚ interact with others in different contexts. Moreover, cultural topics about the culture of Spain will be included.
