Course Description
This unit serves as an introductory course for students who would like to learn the basics of the Italian language. It is intended for beginners aiming to acquire basic vocabulary, grammar and language skills necessary for understanding and communicating in Italian effectively. The unit will focus on developing language proficiency across the four skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing. This will enable students to understand spoken and written Italian, construct simple sentences and engage in basic conversations. The course adopts a communicative approach whereby a variety of teaching methods will be used to introduce fundamental grammar rules and basic vocabulary pertinent to everyday situations, such as greetings, introducing oneself and other common daily activities. Practical communication skills leading to comprehending spoken and written Italian, whilst communicating effectively in both written and oral forms will be acquired.
