Course Description
This unit introduces learners to basic enterprise through hands-on experiences linked to trades such as knitting, tile making, or woodwork. Aimed at beginners in vocational education, it helps them explore how trade skills can lead to small business ideas. The focus is on developing curiosity, creativity, and confidence through guided instruction, group collaboration, and practical activities.
Learners will identify a simple product or service based on their trade and learn how to prepare, promote, and present it. They will explore key steps such as finding customers, selecting materials, setting prices, and displaying their work. Concepts like -‚Å“customer,-‚ -‚Å“price,-‚ -‚Å“cost,-‚ and -‚Å“profit-‚ are introduced in an accessible way, supported by examples from small or family-run businesses.
The unit emphasizes learning by doing, with role-play, demonstrations, and peer feedback. Basic financial ideas-such as the use of a bank account-are also covered. Sustainability is integrated throughout, encouraging responsible material use and waste reduction.
