Certification An MCAST Certificate will be issued to those students who have attended more than 70% of lectures.
Attendance Attendance is recorded through Classter; students are required to register on this system prior to the course commencement. Participants who, by the second session of the course, do not show up as Registered on CMIS, are not to be allowed in class / online sessions any further.  Attendance is only recorded (in real time… every session) on CMIS and not in any other method.

Course Description

Learning Outcome 1: Describe the breed standards when presented with a particular breed

Unit Content

  • Identification & Description of breed standards
  • Feline breed standards, feline breed groups, a description of the features in relation to the quality of the breed presented

Learning Outcome 2: Identify and prepare various cat breeds for grooming, handling and restraint

Unit Content

  • Classification of breed groups:
    • Introduction to the various feline breeds.
    • Different Breeds- Attitudes & Requirement
  • Grooming sequence
  • The basics and rationale behind grooming of the individual breeds
  • Methods of shampooing, brushing, nail trimming and general aspects related to various cat breed grooming
  • Handling & Restraint
  • Handling and restraint techniques in relation to the feline breeds.
  • Handling animals with care during grooming
  • General customer care

Learning Outcomes 3: Relate the health and nutrition to the breed and lifestyle of the cat

  • Animal health and nutrition
  • Introduction to feline nutrition
  • Nutritional advise to pet owners

Learning Outcome 4: Recall the local and EU legislations with special emphasis to the Animal Welfare Act
