Attendance Attendance is recorded through Classter; students are required to register on this system prior to the course commencement. Participants who, by the second session of the course, do not show up as Registered on CMIS, are not to be allowed in class / online sessions any further.  Attendance is only recorded (in real time… every session) on CMIS and not in any other method.

Course Description

This course is aimed at the complete beginner interested in learning basic knowledge on how to cultivate vines.

This course in Viticulture covers the following topics:

  • Legislation and Labeling
  • Soil science, botany, evaluating and improving vineyard sites
  • Selecting vine varieties and rootstocks and vine propagation and planting
  • Winter pruning, vine propagation and nutrition
  • Spray application and weed control
  • Organic viticulture
  • Planting and trellising vines
  • Pest and disease management
  • Vine canopy management
  • Winery equipment and design (site visit)

No specific entry requirements or previous knowledge is required.

No examinations are held at the end of the course.

There are no additional costs or special materials/equipment to bring.
