The course is generally required by the Planning Authority to give a permission to applicants wanting to establish a rabbit farm.
This unit is designed to give a good understanding of the principles of rabbit husbandry and production. It especially targets individuals who are interested in opening a new rabbit farm or who would like to update their skills to manage better an already running rabbit enterprise.
This unit’s sessions are delivered in class and on a working farm and the learner will be expected to spend various hours in practical sessions on the farm.
The unit will go over the basic principles of farm design and rabbit husbandry including feeding, rabbit health, slaughtering, reproduction, record-keeping, animal welfare and the legislation regulating this sector.
