Course Description

The course involves a number of practical exercises, slideshows with lectures, demonstrations, and informal class discussions. All demonstrations have visual aids, images and samples to enlighten students with clear easy to follow instructions on how to create design schemes and applying them effectively into a home. The aim is to teach the fundamental design essentials/techniques and to make them easy to follow with step by step guidance. Students are required to choose a real room from their own home (or friends) and apply the principals demonstrated in order to developed /gain experience on dealing with real situations. Therefore, students will acquire skills which enable them to create the ideal room to suite any lifestyle and further apply design principals to any room and whole property. It offers an overview of design processes such as — style, colour, texture, pattern, scale, balance, materials, flooring, fabric, window treatments, furniture, soft furnishings, lighting, room planning. All areas covered are considered essential design principals which help develop aptitude with creativity in a way that reflects personal style as well as to a prospective client and how to apply them to any room.
