Tuesdays, 5:30pm ‚ – 8:30pm
This Award is a hands-on course offer a comprehensive foundation in wheel throwing and an in-depth exploration of the skills required.
Participants will learn the essentials of clay preparation, the fundamentals of wheel-throwing techniques, and refining work through trimming and finishing. Additional skills in crafting lids and handles will further enrich the creative journey.
To receive an accredited certificate in Award in Ceramics -Intermediate: Wheel Throwing, students must also enroll in Ceramics Open Studio, offered simultaneously. During the Ceramics Open Studio unit, students will be able to continue their practice and fulfil their self- learning hours. ‚

Thursdays, 5:30pm ‚ – 8:30pm
This course is a self-guided unit providing students with a supportive environment with access to tools, clay, kiln and expert guidance. Students develop their own projects during class sessions.
At the start of the course, students will have an in-depth tour of the studio, an introduction to the equipment and a review of how to use and maintain the space including set up of workspace and cleaning. The remainder of the unit is self-guided. The lecturer may demonstrate certain skills and tools relevant to student’s project however, the main role of the lecturer is to be available for individual project support, as needed.
Ceramics Open Studio is for students in the Award in Ceramics – Intermediate: Wheel Throwing bundle so that they can reserve wheel time outside of contact hours and complete the self-learning hours necessary to be eligible for a certification of achievement.
