Course Description:

This workshop introduces learners to essential jewellery-making techniques. Through two immersive sessions, students will develop foundational skills in metalwork, including soldering, annealing, filing, sanding, polishing, and cleaning with a pickling solution. By the end of the short course, participants will have crafted a simple jewellery piece using the skills acquired.

Learning outcomes:

  • Identify and use essential jewellery-making tools and materials.
  • Perform basic soldering techniques to join metal pieces.
  • Apply the annealing process to soften metal for shaping.
  • Use sanding and filing techniques to refine metal surfaces.
  • Execute polishing techniques for a professional finish.
  • Use a pickling solution to clean oxidation from metal surfaces.
