Course Description
This unit aims to equip learners with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills required to perform tiling tasks safely and professionally. A strong emphasis is placed on adopting safe work practices and procedures to minimize health and safety risks to oneself and others. Learners will be guided in recognizing potential hazards and risks within the work environment, particularly those associated with tools, equipment, materials, and substances used in tiling operations.
Tiling involves the installation of tiles-commonly ceramic, porcelain, or stone-on various surfaces such as floors, walls, and countertops. Throughout this unit, learners will be introduced to various types of tiles, adhesives, and grouts, as well as effective techniques for surface preparation and precise tile installation.
Additionally, learners will develop an understanding of different types of paints and the correct methods for their application.
