N.B. Kindly note that applicants will be requested to register for their attendance on Classter. Failure to achieve the full enrolment will entitle the lecturer to exclude student from classes and no certification can be issued. A minimum attendance of 70% is required for certification attainment.

Course Description

During this course students will become familiar with the following:

 

 

    • Don a lifejacket

 

    • Don and use an immersion suit

 

    • Safely jump from a height into the water

 

    • Right an inverted liferaft while wearing a lifejacket

 

    • Swim while wearing a lifejacket

 

    • Keep afloat without a life jacket

 

    • Board a survival craft from ship and water while wearing a lifejacket

 

    • Take initial action on boarding survival craft to enhance chance of survival

 

    • Stream a drogue on sea anchor

 

    • Operate survival craft equipment

 

    • Operate location devices, including radio equipment

 

 

Applicants should be 16 years of age and over and must be medically and physically fit. Candidates must know how to swim

 

An MCAST Certificate will be awarded to those students who have attended 80% and more of the lectures and passed their examination

 

Practical and Written assessment at the end of the course
