This unit is based on a series of practical exercises to produce sound welded products in terms of performance, appearance and results following two root bent t est s, nick break fracture test and macro section examination. Students will become fam iliar with how to produce single run welds in various positions as described in the learning outcomes. All welds will be produced using low carbon steel, with thicknesses varying from 0.8mm to 3.0 mm thick.

Minimum entry requirements for Programme
Completed successfully MCAST Level 2 Award in Metal Inert Gas (MIG} and Metal Active Gas (MAG} Welding (GMAW} and can take own responsibil ity to follow technical procedures and safety and health procedures.
