Course Description

Given the nature of the content of these preparatory programmes – wherein it is not intended for the foundations of the subject to be covered, as they are considered that they have already been fully attained by the course participant – ‚  applicants without any previous coverage of Level 4 content in the area of the Award, will not be able to fully benefit with fruition from the outcomes of same programmes.‚   To this effect, whilst applicants without any basics in the subject can still express interest in committing themselves for the chosen course/s, they will be expected to invest a considerable amount of additional self-study in order to bridge the gaps in view of being able to grasp with fruition what will be delivered during these Award programmes.

This Award will cover the content upon which the Chemistry entry exam for the Master of Science in Veterinary Medicine will be based.

This comprehensive course provides a deep exploration of fundamental principles in chemistry, guiding students through the intricate world of atomic structure, bonding, and the behavior of substances. Students will engage with essential concepts such as radioactivity, the periodic table, and the characteristics of acids and bases. The curriculum emphasizes the various aspects of chemical reactions and equilibrium, alongside practical applications of areas like titration and spectroscopy. This course equips students with the foundational skills necessary for further studies in chemistry and related fields, fostering a deeper understanding of the chemical processes that shape our world.

Overall Learning Outcomes

  • Assess the different theories related to the atom structure and bonding.
  • Identify concepts of chemical equations, solutions and reactions.
  • Outline the chemistries of different chemical elements.
  • Recognise principles related to the chemistries of organic molecules
