The course offers an introduction to the basic concepts of Manual Metal Arc welding process and typical applications in today’s modern engineering environment. The programme enables candidates to gain an understanding of the principles employed in MMA welding processes. The element of theory in the course will enable learners to demonstrate a health and
safety awareness during the course of their duties.
The course provides progression across a range of welding processes and also at higher levels, including MMA.
Overall Learning Outcomes of Programme:
a. Identify how to operate MMA welding equipment in a manner that keeps candidates and others in the immediate area
safe,
b. Produce welding beads on plate and lap fillet joints in horizontal and vertical positions.
c. Select appropriate size of welding electrodes and set MMA welding equipment in relation to plate thickness.
d. Identify defects in the welded joint using visual checks.
