Course Description
This unit delivers the knowledge and skills required by a demolition operative (with no license to operate small mobile plants) to carry out safe work activities in compliance with Health and Safety Regulations. The demolition operative (with no license to operate small mobile plants) shall acquire the necessary knowledge to contribute to a safer workplace by following safe working practices and the correct procedures in case of injury or ill health. The demolition operative (with no license to operate small mobile plants) shall gain knowledge about specific materials and skills to acquire and interpret material data sheets necessary when removing and separating debris. This unit also covers safe use and operation of portable powered plant, hand-held tools and equipment. Following this unit, the demolition operative (with no license to operate small mobile plants) shall be aware of and able to identify potential hazards, including electricity and other utility services, contaminants, hazardous and waste materials, working at height, obstructions and manual handling. The unit will delve into and recommend appropriate actions to reduce and eliminate any risks involved in demolishing and dismantling tasks.
