Course Description

The Master in Applied Inclusive Practices aims to offer an applied approach towards inclusion. This programme is intended for professionals working in schools, the community and the industry who wish to specialise in inclusion and diversity studies to further their education and career. Course Description (Refer to Programme Specification) Throughout the course, students will critically evaluate inclusion policies and practices and learn to lead inclusively and emotionally in educational and social care settings. Interdisciplinary perspectives from psychology, education, sociology, and related fields will be integrated for the students to better understand themselves and envisage roles within educational and care contexts. Design and implementation of intervention strategies to promote inclusivity in educational and social settings as part of an applied intervention project will also be explored. Participants will undertake a practice placement utilising a reflective approach, as part of their studies.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the programme the students are able to; 1. Evaluate critically inclusion policy and practices in education. 2. Be familiar with the Maltese inclusive education system. 3. Support all learners for effective inclusion including those who are marginalised on account of race, language or ability. 4. Develop practice that engages learners with an approach to diversity as an ability. 5. Investigate inclusion and its practice of diversity through an asset lens.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must hold a recognised MQF/EQF Level 6 qualification, with at least 180 credits, in any from the fields of Education, Social Sciences or related.

Applicants found eligible as per above, will also be asked to successfully complete a Master’s Programnme Suitability Interview.

In the absence of above entry requirements, applicants aged 27 years and over, can submit an application under the Maturity Clause, but must present a recognised MQF/EQF Level 5 qualification (at least 120 credits), or its equivalent, in the fields of Education or Social Sciences, together with clear evidence of a minimum of three (3) years (full time) direct and relevant professional experience.

Applicants under Maturity Clause, will be asked to sit for a combined Maturity and Master’s Suitability Interview.

Payment terms:

EU or EEA Nationals (total course fee 5,500 euro)

• Payment 1: Deposit of 500 euro
• Payment 2: 2,500 euro payment before course commencement
• Payment 3: 2,500euro payment at the beginning of second year

Non-EU/EEA Nationals (total course fee 7,900 euro)

• Payment 1: Deposit of 500 euro
• Payment 2: 3,700 euro payment before course commencement
• Payment 3: 3,700 euro payment at the beginning of second year

Refund Policy

1 A full refund of the Fees paid will be issued only where the Programme does not commence within six (6) months of the Student’s first payment.

2 Where the Student fails to satisfy the entry requirements or maturity interview (as confirmed by the MCAST Registrar), the Fees paid to date will be refunded, less a non-refundable administrative fee of €150.

3 The deposit is non-refundable, except where a full refund is due under Point 1.

4 Students holding conditional acceptance who do not meet the final entry requirements are not entitled to a refund and remain liable for the Fees mentioned in their Student Payment Agreement (contract).
