Course Description
The degree in Software Development is intended to prepare learners to work in the industry of application development and engineering and explores the skills required for designing IT enterprise solutions, building robust backend systems, and solving complex problems using the latest paradigms and modern technologies. The programme covers aspects related to software engineering, frontend and backend software technologies, data organisation, persistence and data analysis, software development of portable devices and software quality aspects such as security and testing. Modern trends such as Cloud, Devops, Blockchain, Machine Learning and Computer Vision are also explored. The degree includes work-placements that will allow students to gain experience within the industry and work in a professional environment. At the end of the degree, the students culminate their studies with a research dissertation in an area of their interest. The course is intended for individuals who are keen in solving problems through technology and would like to pursue an exciting career in one of the fundamental pillars of the economy.

Entry Requirements

MCAST Advanced Diploma in IT (iGaming or Software Development or Multimedia Software Development), or
MCAST Advanced Diploma in Electronics (Computer Engineering)
OR
2 subjects as A-Level passes and 2 subjects as I-Level passes
Compulsory A-Level: Computing
AND
Compulsory A-Level or I-Level: Mathematics (Pure or Applied) OR Physics
Information Technology at A or I Level (or similar) is not a substitute for the Compulsory Subject/s as shown in the Entry Requirements for this degree programme.
An Applicant aged 23 years and over, and not in possession of the above Entry Requirements, may wish to apply via the Maturity Clause route.
Applicants under Maturity Clause must still present clear documentation showing that they have a number of achievements in hand together with their School Leaving formal Certificate / document (to confirm their successful completion of compulsory schooling).
Age is not the only eligibility factor in such instances. Besides documents showing their past achievements, applicants must present a detailed CV using the Europass format, as well as the most recent official JobsPlus Employment History.

EU or EEA Nationals – Total course fee 14,500 euro
Non-EU/EEA Nationals – Total course fee 19,500 euro
Refund Policy
1 A full refund of the Fees paid will be issued only where the Programme does not commence within six (6) months of the Student’s first payment.
2 Where the Student fails to satisfy the entry requirements or maturity interview (as confirmed by the MCAST Registrar), the Fees paid to date will be refunded, less a non-refundable administrative fee of €150.
3 The deposit is non-refundable, except where a full refund is due under Point 1.
4 Students holding conditional acceptance who do not meet the final entry requirements are not entitled to a refund and remain liable for the Fees mentioned in their Student Payment Agreement (contract).
