There’s beauty to creating a wall from a pile of stones and knowing, if done right, it will stand the test of time. Building dry-stone walls is an ancient practice, providing a practical solution to making terraces and raised garden beds or shoring up slopes. The natural finish of the stones visually complements most landscapes. Maltese rubble walls were built and will continue to be built for a variety of functions. They mark and divide one field from another in order to divide crops, but also reduce soil erosion due to wind and rainwater. A rubble wall acts as a sieve, allowing rainwater to flow through, while holding back the soil, and stooping the excessive water from the crops.
