Post-Graduate Certificate in Research Methods to Masters in Research Methods and DRes:
The Post-Graduate Certificate in Research Methods is a 30 ECTS programme pegged at EQF/MQF Level 7. This PG Cert Research Methods is designed to give candidates clear insights into ethically sound research practices, choice methodologies (Grounded Theory; Narrative Enquiry; Thematic Analysis; Multivariate Analysis) and basic but rigorous research tools and techniques. Knowledge and understanding of how to approach both primary and secondary research is targeted, as well as an understanding of ethical considerations and the expectations for scholarly research writing. The programme comprises the following modules, with corresponding ECTS values:
Year 1 (Semester 1 & 2): Post-Graduate Certificate in Research Methods – EQF L7
Module 1 Basics of Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods 6 ECTS
Module 2 Research Methodology related to the Chosen Research Topic 6 ECTS
Module 3 Designing an Ethically Sound Research Proposal 6 ECTS
Module 4 Designing and Piloting a Research Project 12 ECTS
Accumulated Total 30 ECTS
Possibility of Continuation to the Full MCAST Masters Degree in Research Methods (Code UC7-E18-17, EQF Level 7 at 90 ECTS in total) or/and to the MCAST DRes.
Entry Requirements:
Lev 6 degree recognised by the MFHEA with a minimum of 2nd
OR
Lev 4 Diploma with a working experience in a related field for the past 5 years
