Lecture duration: 2 hours from mid to third week of October till February of the first year.

Frequency: The lectures are always conducted between 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm on Wednesdays from mid to third week of October till February of the first academic year. An assignment needs to be presented for Module 1 and for Module 2 an Open Viva is held on campus.

Mode of delivery: Modules of Module 1 and 2 can be followed online however it is highly advisable to attend lectures in person or at least some of them due to the interactivity of the workshops held.

Dissertation Assistance: 52 contact hours of agreed prescheduled regular meetings with the supervisor.

Mode of assessment: 2 Taught modules in Research Methods + Research Dissertation

Course Description

The Master by Research (MRes) programme provides the learner with sound practical knowledge and experience in preparation for a research career, as well as with preparation and training for doctoral research. Learners will have demonstrated originality in the application of knowledge, and they will understand how the boundaries of knowledge are advanced through research. They will be able to deal with complex issues both systematically and creatively, and they will show originality in tackling and solving applied research-related challenges.

Entry Requirements

(a) A relevant MQF/EQF Level 6 degree at second class, OR

(b) An MQF/EQF Level 6 degree, which is regarded by the Master’s Degree Committee as equivalent to an Honours degree such as professional qualifications subject, plus a portfolio evidencing relevant work experience for at least three years.
