Description
In this unit, students will investigate and engage with a variety of media and techniques used in fashion design and production. Students will hone visual communication skills and continue to develop the language of design needed to liaise within the industry.
Students will explore the design and production planning techniques such as technical drawing of garments ‘Technical Flats’ both by hand and in Adobe Illustrator. Students will familiarise themselves with the pen weights and illustrator tools needed to create ‘technical flats’ for on ‘Spec sheets’ — adopting the international language between designer and manufacturer around the globe.
Students will learn about sourcing materials and suppliers, ‘Costing Quantity Sheets’, and ‘Sample and Fabric Boards’.
Alongside this more technical part of visual communication, in their projects, students will be immersed in various illustration skills and techniques (traditional, contemporary, and digital) which will bring mood and life to proposed designs.
