MQF Level 5; 6 ECTS
Course Rationale
The unit is designed to provide learners with basic marine practical and theoretical electrical knowledge. Topics covered in this unit should enable learners in discharge of their duties as Engineering Officers of the Watch efficiently duties in accordance with the Standards of Training, Certification & Watchkeeping (STCW) Code 2010 as per Table A-III/1 and A-III/2. This unit will also form the basis on which further and advanced level of studies may be built. The unit covers in some details the typical elements of generation, distribution and consumption of electricity on board ships. Practical work and demonstrations will be utilised to reinforce the theoretical aspects of the subject area.
